How we design our sizes

So you’ve bought a size 12 from a different company that fitted you perfectly, will our size 12 fit you in the same way?

It seems like a simple question but for us its very tricky. Some products are designed for a comfortable fit with a generous cut, others are designed for a slim fit or anywhere in between.

We design our swimwear to fit close to the body, so that it stays with you in the surf. For this reason we don’t have a great allowance for comfort when choosing a size greater or less than your ideal. The only way for us to be confident that the size is right for you is to know your measurements.

How to take your measurements

You can use a measuring tape for this, or if you don’t have one you can use some string or a belt then work it out with a ruler after you have made the measurement.

Getting the perfect measurement mainly relies on your posture. Make sure your posture is close to how it would be normally; your arms close your side, your shoulders relaxed and your shoulder blades and your hips level, and your back straight.

Measuring the Bust

Measure around the fullest part of the breast and and straight across your back. Keep the tape level accross your shoulder blades & make sure the tape is not tight and feels comfortable but not loose.

Measuring the Underbust

Measure around the body directly under the bust (touching the top of the ribs).

Measuring the Waist

To measure around the waistline, find the smallest section of your waist. This is typically 4 to 7 cm above your navel. When taking this measurement make sure that that tape is comfortably loose (see if you can fit two fingers between the tape and your waist).

Measuring the Hips

To take this measurement, find the widest part around your hips. This is usually 20cm down from the waistline but it can vary. Take the measurement with your feet together and make sure the tape is level and feels comfortable but not loose.
